Everything to Know about the Ruling Planet Venus

The Planet of Love
Venus is one of the ruling planets in astrology. It rules over the zodiacal signs Taurus and Libra.
- Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac. It is the fixed earth sign of spring. Taurus types search for beauty and symmetry. They live in their senses (sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch). Taurus types generally want to pair up with someone romantically. They love the outdoors; they need ample time in nature. They’re known as the gardeners of the zodiac. They seek to make the world a more beautiful place.
- Libra is the seventh sign of the zodiac. It is the cardinal air sign of autumn. Libras want there to balance. They are attracted to social harmony. They are charmed by beauty and equality. Libras seek out good vibes. They can be dreamy idealists. Libras want everyone to feel like they belong. The air sign is one of the most amicable signs of the zodiac.
Venus rules over luxury, pleasure, romance, harmony, and charm. Taurus is an earth sign, so it is focused on materials and sensory experiences. In Taurus, Venus is at its most opulent.
Macrobius, a Roman writer who lived circa 400 AD, designated a planet to each zodiac sign. The thinker did this based on the ancients’ teachings. He placed Venus in Taurus and Libra stating these were how they were at the beginning of our planet. . . granted, there is no real way to determine that.
Venus is about how you value harmony, yourself, and your relationships. Those with a lot of Taurus or Libra in their natal chart are natural mediators, they appreciate fairness and honesty, and they’re protective of what they love. Those with Venus’ influence will treasure relationships.
Venus in Your Natal (Birth) Chart
Everyone in their natal chart has a sign that’s placed in Venus. This part of your chart has to do with how you relate to others. When it comes to sweaty palms on dates and anxious butterflies in your stomach, you have Venus to thank for that. The planet acts like Cupid: it has the unique ability to conjure up feelings between two people. . . or she’ll stir up one very unrequited person.
